At McKenna & Company, we incorporate sustainability into all aspects of our business. We recognize that we have both an opportunity and obligation to drive significant change by 1) minimizing the environmental impact of real estate and 2) enhancing the economic and social benefits of real estate development, investment and occupation. Within these two pillars, we’ve identified five issues that are most important to our business and the effects it has on our communities and the world around us.

 

Energy and Resources: According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, commercial and residential real estate accounts for 11 percent of greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, large chunks of electricity (33 percent of GHG emissions) and industry (20 percent) outputs fall under the real estate and building operations umbrella. Through the buildings and facilities we manage, and clients we consult on construction and efficient operations, we’re committed to reducing the environmental impact of real estate we manage or consult.
